Contests / 2013 / Tomb Raider Reborn Contest

My 2nd entry for the contest, I wanted to redo an idea I had a while ago, creating a piece based on the island and its history. For this piece I worked on Lara and the background separately giving me the chance to focus on Lara without being drawn by the background and working on different sections, as its easy for me to get distracted. At first I had Lara a bit further back but decided I wanted to bring Lara closer within the piece to show her beauty and strength.

The background is something I really enjoyed working on, I love the art style of the new Tomb Raider and found it very inspiring, with derelict plan being a part of the environment I knew it was something I wanted to include within the piece.

I used brushed from Dirt2.com for skin and details on the hair, painting was done in Corel Painter 12 using oils, water, and acrylic brushes also the FX brushes which I used for lighting details such as skin and fire. Lighting and Contrast edited in Corel Photo Shop Pro X5.
